Produced using a percentage of blackstrap molasses, Bully Boy Boston Rum is distilled by Bully Boy in MA. Known for using more heads than usual, this set of releases has been through quite a few batches - this one was Batch 57. This was tasted blind, and a reveal was provided when I handed in my notes. Let's dive in.
Rich pecan, toffee, musty baking bread, sweet raisins and toffee, sticky and rich. No ethanol.
Honey, honey dew, toffee. Super sweet, some nice barrel character. Over time molasses, brown sugar, root beer all deliver, with a light pepper structure. Sweet, but not cloying. Rummy.
Short again, but sweet and rich. Faint heat, wisps away cleanly as it exits. Sweet, though, lots of maple, some fruity wine notes and a load of brown sugar.
This is nice - a hair sweet, but not bad. Could use a boost in proof to give it a little more presence on the palate, but overall it was nice. This might be Barbados in origin, but I'm not sure. I'd guess its around the 10-12 year mark, if I had to. Maybe 46% ABV, max.
