- Excerpt: M. Casimir himself adds leaves of citronella, cinnamon, and in some batches, ginger, and some of that evidently carried over into the final product. Does that make it an adulterated rhum? Maybe. But for something this rich and powerful and bat-bleep-crazy, I’m willing to let it pass just to observe how joyously these guys run headfirst into a wall in making a rhum so distinct.

- Excerpt: This was interesting but for me not a patch on a good Jamaican Overproof and far to near unaged Cachaca territory. It’s interesting and has a fair amount going on but I don’t think its great. If you enjoy Cachaca especially the younger variants then you will get a lot of enjoyment out of this. Unfortunately I just didn’t.

Intro:
"Faubert Casimir continues the work his father started in 1979 and is now considered the best distiller in the region of Barradères. Faubert cultivates 50 hectares of non-hybrid Hawaii Blanche sugar cane. His plantation is intercropped with bananas, palms and lime. Only the fully ripe rods are collected, this way the field is never left devoid of vegetation. What is unique to Casimir and other distillers in the area, is to add some herbs or vegetable matter to pure cane juice during fermentation in order to enhance the flavours. Faubert adds leaves of citronella, cinnamon, and in some batches, ginger."- Specialty Brands

Nose:
Powerful, mineral forward. Super funky - loads of olive, vinegar and tomato on the nose. Wild and unique, with a profile I can't recall finding in many rums.

Taste:
Sweet, loads of vanilla, vinegar and brine. Olives, pemento, rubber, light woodiness. No real heat.

Finish:
Short, but sweet, fruity and more restrained in the tomato olive department.

Overall:
This is weird, but in a way I enjoy less than the Sajous. It's unique, I could see it spicing up a bloody mary well, but it's not my preferred funky profile.
