Excerpt: Mmmm yes, that's the stuff. Still very competent, and honestly great rum. This is a treat, made only more enjoyable by the fact its widely available and well priced. This could easily be desert island rum if the t8ke.review ship were ever to crash in the tropics.
Excerpt: This is a rum that needs to be tried carefully because to the unprepared it might just hit them between the eyes like a Louisville Slugger. Personally I think a little more ageing or a little more finishing might have been nice, just to round things out and sand the rough edges off a shade more – this is, after all, not even a six year old rum, but a blend of pot still rums of which a 6YO is the oldest. And those high-funk, ester-sporting bad boys need careful handling to reach their full potential.
Excerpt: Overall it’s not a bad rum. Unfortunately in the context of Jamaican rum and the ready availability of much better rums (both as sippers and mixers) it isn’t a rum I would really look to seek out. The finish hasn’t really done much to be honest. Maybe it needed longer to make some kind of impact. For me it failed to really deliver anything different, like say the Worthy Park Oloroso or Marsala cask rums.

House Review
Intro:
It's been about 1,000 reviews since I've reviewed this OG bottling of the OG Dr. Bird rum from Two James, so I figured it was time for a revisit. Disitlled at Worthy Park and finished in Moscatel wine barrels, this moderately proofed rum is fairly available. Let's give it another go.
Nose:
Sweet butterscotch, honey, light oak and a nice funk to it. Lots of sweetness as well, the wine is clear in its influence.
Taste:
Medium to thick mouth feel. Pineapple, almond, honey, papaya, some pepper. The funk is really fun and spot on for Worthy Park, but it’s integrated just right.
Finish:
Long, rich and sweet. Lots of funk here but it’s not too aggressive - blends just right with toffee, brown sugar, some pineapple and honey.
Overall:
Mmmm yes, that's the stuff. Still very competent, and honestly great rum. This is a treat, made only more enjoyable by the fact its widely available and well priced. This could easily be desert island rum if the t8ke.review ship were ever to crash in the tropics.
