This is a review of a bottle I tried blind - a friend poured it and gave me the reveal when I handed in my notes. Let's dive in.
Musty, but sweet. Lots of toffee, vanilla, a peculiar caramel note. Some musty sweetness, a little bit of grain. No real ethanol. It seems fairly secretive as to its identity.
Really sweet. Very sweet. Caramel, pralines, toffee, nougat, coffee and peanuts. It feels just shy of being flavored. Mouth feel is syrupy, not cloying but it's syrupy. Lots of coffee and toffee. Mild heat, nothing too wild.
Medium in length. Faint heat, lots of sweet praline. Buttery caramel, pralines and almond.
This is really bizarre. If it's a liqueur, it's a well done one. It's sweet but not too sweet. I don't think it's a liqueur though - just a super sweet malt. The amaretto note is sort of bizarre, but it's there and it's undeniable. I'll admit on this one - I have no idea. For sake of guessing, I'll guess Angel's Envy rye, as it's the only thing I can think of between liqueur and spirit, and I'm ready and willing to be wrong. This was revealed to me to be Plantation Belize Port Cask Single Barrel rum, and this is insanely sweet for a 41% not "super dosed" rum. Thanks, Plantation.
