This is a single cask rum hailing from Venezuela, distilled at Corporacion Alcoholes Del Caribe S.A. It's 14 years old, bottled at cask strength, with no coloring and filtering. Since I was involved in selecting this for r/rum, it will be unscored. This round was bonkers exciting to do, and you all have seen my initial notes on this cask from the selection phase, but after working through a whole bottle, I wanted to get a full review out there.
Powerful brown sugar, toffee, oak structure. Decadent and sweet, tannic and balanced. Papaya, some mango, the fruit plays well with the dessert notes.
Thick, syrupy and rich. Powerful and indulgent. Heat is there but in check for the proof. Sweet oak, brown sugar, toffee and pepper. Lovely berry, mango and faint fruits.
Long, sweet and rich. The toffee, fruits and tannins balance excellently. Air time has only turned this bottle from great to phenomenal.
This bottle is phenomenal, and reminds me every time I have it why it was a must pick. It opened up so well with airtime, as well, which is always a bonus. There are a lot of rough things going down in Venezuela right now, but they know how to make a bonkers good rum.
